The Member of Parliament for the Sawla-Tuna Kalba constituency, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey says the hardship that Ghanaians are going through under the Akufo-Addo government is beyond imagination, considering the promises that the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made ahead of the 2016 general elections.
He said the NPP created a false sense that it could out-perform the NDC in government but after winning the last elections, the policies of the government have resulted in untold hardship, with every sector of the economy taking a hit.
Making a contribution on the floor of Parliament on the debate of the 2022 budget statement presented by the Finance minister on November 17, 2021, Hon. Andrew entreated Nana Akufo-Addo to listen to the cry and anguish of the people.
He described the ruling government NPP as the most insensitive administration the nation has ever had.
The deputy ranking member of parliament select committee on Works and Housing singled out the President’s renting of luxurious private jets for his foreign travel as one such wasteful expenditure that ought to be stopped.
He opined that such monies could be used to build decent homes for Ghanaians.
According to him, the levies introduced on sanitation last year by the current government are needless, and has no effect on his constituents.
Hon. Andrew emphasized that “the development under the watch of the heartless Akufo-Addo and his government has brought hardship on Ghanaians.”
The MP described the 2022 budget statement as a scam alert or “419” because it doesn’t meet the aspirations of Ghanaians and must therefore be thrown out by Members of Parliament.
The deputy ranking member of Works and Housing Committee added that he was disappointed the Keta Sea defense project did not find expression in the 2022 budget presented by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on November 17, 2021.
The MP also quizzed the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia how far he has gone with the provision of water and toilet facilities in the country as he buttressed that the Vice president in the run up to 2016 elections promised that two years into the government of the NPP,there should not be a village in Ghana with water and toilets problems.
