Former President John Dramani Mahama promises to provide telephony network and accessible road for Sonyor.

The Former President of the Republic of Ghana Ghana John Dramani Mahama has made a promise to the people of Sonyor in the Bole District of providing them with a telephony network and accessible road network when the NDC returns to power in 2024.

This was said by the former minority leader and MP for Tamale South Hon. Haruna Iddrisu during an address on behalf of the Former president during the 2024 Deng festival celebration.

He expressed his gratitude to VAYA for organizing this important festival adding that former president has the belief that Sonyor Kupo, Kafu and Allah shall see him through as the next president of Ghana again.

Explaining the NDC framework for a sustainable development Should former president Mahama become president, Hon Haruna said inclusiveness is key which he buttressed the point with appointment of a woman as running mate.

He mentioned among others 24hr economy, water supply and robust digital economy by discrediting some analogies his main contender that 24hr economy needs legislation and that it simply amend the labour act.

He called for political tolerance by urging the Electoral Commission to exercise their duty with fairness.

The DCE for Bole Hon Veronica Alele Hemeng who spoke on behalf of the regional minister called for political tolerance adding that we met politics and shall leave it and go.

She said everyone has the right to choose his or her political party for that matter voting pattern adding that in the the day of election you have the right to vote the person you wish to win devoid of violence .

She said sonyo Kupo is a powerful deity and urged all those with financial,  material, children bearing among others to channel it through the deity.

“As native of Sonyor I feel proud of my community because of such a festival. So I called on everyone to support the festival”, she said.

She mentioned among others things what she did for sonyo including a Chps Compound, reshaping of sonyo road, market and provision of water facilities.

She said this term marks her last reign as a DCE but urge them to pray for to go higher in her political career.

The MP for Bole-Bamboi Hon Yusif Sulemana said the people of sonyo has done a lot for him and he is looking for and opportunity to replicate same.

He said he can but only do if former president John Dramani Mahama becomes President.

He also recounted how he pleaded with the elders of sonyo to consider him by voting for him during 2016 election other than Alele but their advice becomes reality which made Alele DCE and him as MP.

He also reiterated the need for peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups by taking advantage of the festival.

He called on the people of Sonyor to remember him and former president Mahama in prayers ahead of the 2024 election.
