The Savannah Regional Communication Officer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale has said that the MP for Damongo and the Minister for Lands and Natural resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor is engaged in mere rhetorics at the back of his comment that no president has done more for the Savannah Region than President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The speaking at the NPP constituency delegates conference in Damongo said,
“No president and no party has done more for the Savannah Region than h President Akufo-Addo. The record and the evidence speak for themselves.”

He created the Savannah Region, brought water, tarring our roads, intervening in agriculture, intervening in education, intervening in healthcare, about to bring a regional hospital in Damongo and 2 district hospitals to the Savannah Region.

But speaking on Yagbon radio morning show he told Abdul-Fataw that all was a mere talk to make his people think he is working forgetting that he would be contested.

He explained among others that in the health sector alone during the erstwhile John Mahama administration, Damongo hospital was upgraded to a district hospital and three health facilities under the 89m euro facility in Bamboi, Buipe and Sawla were all executed in the region.

He said the Region saw massive improvement in the educational sector among communities on the Sawla Fufulso road under the 110m dollar axillary facilities.

Daboya, Bamboi, Mpaha all benefited from E-block including Buipe secondary, and secondary technical school,he asserted.

He added that on job creation, a 90m dollar Buipe cement and a shea factory factory were established under former president John Mahama.

With markets spreading across Busunu, Sawla among others during the tenure of John Mahama.

He however argued that the reason the NDC lost 3 seats in the region is as a result of intimidation and vote buying from the camp of the NPP.

But for presidential former president Mahama performed spectacularly and said they should wait and see what will happen in 2024 as he indicated that the the party( NDC) did not lose in the Savannah region but because they took foreigners into the region that made them to win some seats, Mr Basintale noted.
