The Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party,  Laamiitey Jonathan Gilbier, has filed his nomination to contest the parliamentary primaries of the Sawla-Tuna-Klaba Constituency in the Savannah Region.

He filed his nomination at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) office on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, when he submitted the signed forms to the party.

The forms were received by the Chairman of the Constituency Election Vetting Committee, Mr Mark Nuhu.

Chairman of the Constituency Vetting Committee advised the contenders and their supporters to conduct themselves justly to ensure that party unity is maintained, come the end of the contest.

Mr Jonathan thanked the party for the opportunity given him to contest for the Parliamentary seat.

He urged his supporters to always comport themselves especially at this time when the party is preparing for an internal election to elect parliamentary candidates for the various constituencies.

Jonathan who is confident of defeating his other contenders during the Sawla-Tuns- Kalba election, entreated his supporters to desist from attacking or responding to insults from supporters of his opponents.

According to him, politics is all about preaching what one’s preferred candidate can do and not about the quantum of insults you can rain on others.

“This is an election. Going into this election, we are not going to vote for someone who can insult more, but, you’re being expected to preach what you can do for the party or the constituency and when your message convinces, definitely, you’ll be emerged victorious”, he told a gathering of his supporters at the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba NPP party office after he had filed his nomination form.

Some supporters and delegates who described Jonathan Laamiitey as hardworking, respectful, committed, crowd puller said, they see him as the rightful candidate who can defeat NDC’s Andrew Dari Chiwitey to win the seat for the NPP.

Speaking to Yagbon News the supporters entreated the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba delegates to vote massively for Jonathan Laamiitey since they see him as the only hope that can bring victory to the NPP in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba.

The Sawla- Tuna-Kalba seat is one of the four constituencies where the NPP has no representation in the Eighth Parliament in the Savannah Region.

The seat is currently occupied by Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
