Global Communities, a Non- Governmental Organisation which basically focuses on Water and Sanitation has on Tuesday 1st August 2023 cut sod for the construction of an incinerator at the Bole District Hospital.
Mr. Theophilus Mensa, E-WASH Engineer under Global Communities, speaking at the sod cutting ceremony, said under the E-WASH project being funded by the USAID, five (5) Regions in the North are beneficiaries including the Savannah Region.
Mr. Theophilus mentioned again that under the project they are working in Communities and institutions that is health care facilities and Schools, and the focus is on Infections Prevention and Control (IPC).
Mr. Theophilus Mensa added that hospitals generate various wastes which must be properly disposed, and under the project assessment Bole District hospital was selected to benefit from an Incinerator construction.
“so today we came with the contractor who has been selected through a procurement process to formally introduce the contractor to the hospital authorities and then also hand over the constructions site to the contractor”, he said.
Speaking to Yagbon news the contractor Mr. Eugene Kwabena said the duration of the project is for two months and it’s been awarded by the Global Communities which is an NGO’s and being funded by the USAID.
The contractor said again that he is assuring the people of Bole that this project will be very successful and he will make sure they build it up to standard which can control all the waste at the hospital.
Hajia Fuseina Sulemana, the Bole District Health Director mentioned that the hospital was having an incinerator and later got broken down, so we lobbied through the Global Communities to aid us get an incinerator to manage waste at the hospital.
“So today we are cutting the sod for a new incinerator where we will burn all our waste, the stringes, cottons, gloves and everything so that no harm will be caused after the usage”, she said.
