The Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area with his council of elders has held a stakeholders meeting at his palace over recent killings within his traditional area.
The meeting held on Monday, September 12, 2022, brought together various youth camps, DISEC, Regional Police command among others.
In a welcome address Bolewura Sarfo Kutegefeso (l), narrated the history and legacies of his great grand father who ascended the throne to him.
So with their records he will not allow these kind of killings to continue in his area.
He explained that Bole traditional area is the only area in the Gonja traditional area which shares borders with other countries.
However the discovery of Gold deposits in the area has lead to the invasion of the area by members of these border countries.
Among these invaders include bad ones who after the deposit is no more encouraging decided to stay and perpetrate crimes.
He said the youth were angry over recent killing including a young man of the Ambulance Service who was murdered by unknown assailants.
He stated that any security officer who had stayed in the area more than four years in Bole should be transfered.
The Chief also expressed disappointment over the refusal of DISEC to appear in his palace severally to answer questions concerning issues of crimes.
The youth chief of Bole, Alhaji Abdulai Mahama said the situation is worrying and needs urgent attention.
He narrated how the youth visited him in his house with anger over this killings but said they are not to apportion blames but to support the police in the fight against crime.
Mr Abdulai Adams, a youth speaking on behalf of the youth said they don’t want to see any Nigerian in Bole as he said they are the cause of this recent killings.
According him their checks indicate that the genuine ones who were here left and the new ones coming because of their activities.
He added that a youth group will be presented to Bolewura and subsequent to DISEC for community policing to help curtail crime in the area.
The Savannah Regional Police 2IC DCOP Faakye Kumi at the meeting said he agrees with them to a larger extend but however not happy with the threats and ultimatums issued.
He said murder cases are complex to deal with so the security needs a lot of time to unravel their investigations.
DCOP Kumi said said they don’t have to telling the public every step they get to but only when they are done with their investigations.
He said they will adopt the youth group that will be selected and work with them as community policing as that is the agenda of IGP Dr George Akufu Dampare
and encouraged the youth to be law abiding and not put the law into their own hands.
Bole wura however asked the youth to select ten among themselves with some chiefs to meet him for final deliberations.
