The Bole District Health Directorate has held its mid-year performance review meeting to discuss its achievements, constraints and challenges in health delivery in the District.
The Director of Health Services Queen Sulemana Fuseina in an address acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders in achieving the successes including significant efforts going into strengthening maternal and child health.
“Expanding immunization coverage, scaling up nutrition interventions, and deepening community engagement” was also highly achieved by the Directorate,she noted.
She also commended the disease control teams for their vigilance in surveillance and timely reporting, and public health emergency team for their swift responses when called upon.
She stated the evident performance of these specific indicators:
In 2024, the sector saw 57,618 outpatient department visits, which increased to 69,090 in 2025, skilled birth rate remained high at 86.5% in 2024 and 96.5% in 2025 with Percentage of pregnant women with HB checked increased slightly from 95% to 96.3% and Anaemia at 36weeks of gestation reduced from 46.7% to 42.8% in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
Other achievements included Penta 3 coverage increased from 88.3% in 2024 to 103% in 2025.
While celebrating their achievements,Hajia Fuseina said she wish to bring the challenge of the sector to the attention of the stakeholders as in securing funding for the District Health Directorate office structure.
Renovating health facilities like Sakpa CHPS, Kwame Kwesi CHPS, and Jama Health Centre.
Expanding facilities such as Maluwe CHPS, Kakiase CHPS, Tinga, and Gbenfu CHPS.
Providing motorbikes for our facilities and the District Hospital.
Refurbishing the hospital morgue.
Addressing encroachment on facility lands, establishing Port Health services at Chache and Providing adequate staff accommodation are among their challenges .
She acknowledged the contribution of numerous NGO in the District and that their effort can’t be taken for granted.
Indicating that the present of the stakeholders is not only a mark of commitment to healthcare delivery but a testament to the strength of collaboration and partnership that fuels progress.
She expressed gratitude to Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi Constituency for providing CWC Sheds for Wakawaka, Sakpa and Kwame Kwesi CHPS Compounds,
Speaking on behalf of Bole District assembly the a District Development planning officer Mr Yakubu Yussif indicated that the central government issued directive all MMDAs to allocate at least 10 percent of it common fund to the health sector.
He indicated that the BDHD is a very important department they have worked for so many years.
Mr Yussif stated that indicators the reviews help the assembly for that matter the central government to plan at the National level through the National Development planning commission
He however advice that the assembly should be given direction as to how to go about development in the health section by BDHD
Mr Anumah Christopher the representative of the regional director commended them for their efforts and working hard to achieve the universal healthcare.
Mr Christopher urged the staff to take data and records serious and treat it as it is their own and that data is evidence of what you have done at the facility and wish everyone a fruitful presentation.
