Danger is looming in Bole in the Bole District of the Savannah Region following the gradual collapse of the pump gbong bridge in the Kumasi- Wa highway.

According to the Savannah Regional Communication Officer of the NDC, RA Jalilu ,the bridge has become a death trap and urgently needs repair or replacement.

Speaking to Yagbon News when him and the Deputy Savannah Regional Secretary toured the dilapidated bridge on July 3,2024, appealed to relevant authorities to take immediate action to fix the bridge to prevent risking lives.

“We urge the government to prioritize fixing the bridge for us in not less than two weeks .It poses a significant risk, and falling off could result in loss of life,” R. A. Jalilu lamented.

The current state of the bridge poses as a death trap. The situation becomes more worrying because with the rains, the dam seems to be rising.

This means very soon, the bridge will not be visible, and commuters will be unable to cross when the water overshadows the bridge that is in such bad state.

He told told Yagbon News that unless steps are taken to repair the damaged caused by erosion and weak structures, danger is imminent.

“We are calling on the authorities, the Bole DCE, Regional Minister and the sector minister to come to our aid by ensuring the immediate repairing of the bridge which is now a death trap. We shouldn’t wait until there is a total collapsed like what we experienced at Doli last year before we rush to have the bridge fixed.”

Ra Jalilu lamented that the bridge has been in a dilapidated state for long yet no attention has been paid to it.

According to him the bad state of the bridge was a great worry to the people and asked the regional administration to prioritise its rehabilitation immediately.

Mr Jalilu therefore appealed to the Ministry of Roads and Highway to rehabilitate the bridge on time to avert any disaster or else the they will advise themselves on the next step to take concerning the death trap bridge in the heart of Bole town.
