Madam Veronica Alele Heming , District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole, has called on Assembly Members in the District to intensify education on the wearing of nose masks to curb the spread of COVID-19.
She said it was important for the people to be aware of the dangers posed by the novel coronavirus and the need for them to join the fight against the pandemic by observing the health protocols to stem its spread.
Madam Veronica who was speaking to Abdul Fatawu in an interview during Yagbon Radio morning show ” Tea Cup” said the Bole District is making all efforts at tackling the disease and support from the citizenry was necessarily required to achieve the desired objective.
She therefore, called on the citizenry to give the needed support to the District saying victory against the novel coronavirus could be achieved through collective and concerted effort.
She urged the traditional leaders and other opinion leaders in the various communities in the District to also help in the fight against the spread of the disease by educating their people and ensuring that they adhere to the health safety protocols.
Madam Veronic said the Assembly had procured about 975 nose masks to be distributed to citizens to limit the spread of the virus.
The DCE said more of the the nose masks would be procured and distributed to all residents in the District where the enforcement of its directives will be mandatory.
She said to ensure that traders in the market in the District observe the social distancing protocol, the Assembly in consultation with the Bole Traditional Council had decided to demarcate the Bole Market into four zones to make them spacious.
Meanwhile the Bole Traditional Council had given the greenlight to the Bole District Health Directorate on the enforcement of no nose masks, no entry into any of their health facilities effective May, 20, 2020.
