Abandoned classroom block

Pupils of Nyanyama Basic School in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region have appealed to the government to complete a three -unit classroom block that has been abandoned for many years.

This three-unit classroom block was started in 2020 and had since been abandoned.

The purpose of the construction of the school block was to address the infrastructural deficit in the school.

Nyanyama is a farming community located in the Yipala Electoral Area.

A total number of 196 pupils currently study in a church building as their improvised shed has totally collapsed.

The community school which was opened in 1989 can only boast of 2 teachers from Kindergarten to primary six.

Old School Block since 1989

According to some residents who spoke to Yagbon News, several appeals have been made to the Sawla -Tuna- Kalba District Assembly but have not yielded any fruits.

Some pupils who spoke to Yagbon News on condition of anonymity lamented that the situation is affecting their academic performance.

These concerned pupils took the opportunity to appeal to the government and other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) as a matter of urgency to come to their aid.
