The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has cut sod for the commencement of work on the US$200 million Debra inland port under the Trans- Volta Logistics corridor project,

In a welcome address by the Savannah
Regional Minister, Hon. Muazu Jebril, said the Debre inland port project is a dream come through because Debre Port has been on the drawing board for a very long time, today what have lived follow and remain neutral start from many years has now assumed it’s true nature.

The real resource it is and the whole country is going to be beneficiary of this single project which is going to be built here in Debre, it is for this reason that i am so excited and happy to welcome our special guest Nkilgiwura Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to this occasion.

Your Excellency, “we in the Savannah Region cannot hide our happiness in seeing this day and we cannot thank you enough, it is only God who will see your dream come through in the near future”.

The benefits of this port for the local people here in the region and the whole country cannot be over emphasized, the forward and backwards linkages of business to the region and it’s associated chain of employment for the youth is what the good people of this Region are yearning for.

There is no doubt that building of this port is going to open up this part of the country and that so many opportunities are going to be born out of it.

Speaking at the durbar grounds on Friday 22nd July 2022, the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said, His Excellency the President  Nana Akufo-Addo is very happy about this project because of his vision of bridging the gab the North end the South and this project is part of the fulfilment of that vision of the president.

The Vice president again said he was also excited today because of the implications of the historic nature of what we are all gathered here to do and to witness the idea of an inland Marine port in the northern part of Ghana along the volta lake, it an idea that has been much talked about since independence .

The case for such an inland port it’s overwhelming but we have not been able to make it happen since Independence as a country no Government has been able to make it happen.

For me personally this project has been a five year effort by Government to encourage and facilitate this investment by LMI Holdings, finally today by the grace of God this dream has come to a reality as we are here to cut sod for the construction of the Debre marine inland port.

This old important project of national and international interest is part of the volta logistics corridor a complementary project led by a Ghanaian firm, LMI Holdings developing transportation routs for goods from Tema port to the Savannah Region and further to the Burkina Faso Niger and Mali.

The Debre Marine Port will contribute to the infrastructure Development of Ghana with the positive dominant effect on transportation, jobs creation, rural development, revenue generation and the plethora of other benefits that Ghana stand to attained.

Infrastructure development is at the foundation of national growth it support inclusiveness and sustainable productive investment, improving lives by connecting people to the opportunity in variable reducing poverty and creating an equitable society.

Finally, he said in this regard this 200 million dollars trans volta logistics corridor that I just cut a sod for the inland Marine port will cost two hundred million dollars and a two hundred and fifty million dollars industrial park at Yapei and this two projects will address a million issues that continue to play a movement of Goods in Ghana and to our neighbours in the sub-region.
