Reach Out Africa, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has organised a free health screening for the people of Jagluu, near Wechiau, in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region.

The residents, including the young and aged, were screened for various ailments and given medication while those diagnosed with serious health conditions were counselled and referred to the hospitals.

As part of its charity outreach programme, the NGO presented clothes, exercise books and other learning materials to school children, to enhance teaching and learning in the area.

The gesture was made to support alleviate the plight of the people in the area who are predominantly peasant farmers.

Madam Monique Nkrumah, president and founder of the NGO, in an interview with Yagbon News said the organization was founded with a “core mantle and social mandate to solve problems of the needy, aged and marginalised.”

Hon. Baapile Moses, the Assemblyman for the area, who received the educational materials on behalf of the community, thanked the NGO for the gesture.

He also applauded Rotary Club of Wa for presenting over 200 pairs of sandals to school children within the area.

The Assemblyman however pleaded with other benevolent organizations to help provide Tieyiri and Nuobacheneyiri communities with potable drinking water as residents from those communities still draw water from the stream.

Mr. Alhassan Inusah Agambirah, Membership Director of Rotary Club of Wa, also spoke to Yagbon News and said the donated items to the school children is one of the NGO objective of improving the standards of education in rural communities.
