The Bole District Forestry Division is seeking the support of chiefs and other stakeholders in the Bole Traditional Area towards the National Greening project to ensure a successful planting of trees across the country.

The District targets of planting 350,000 seedlings.

The exercise was held at the Bole Nursing and Midwifery Training College and formed part of the national goal of planting 30 million seedlings this year.

Speaking at the event, District Manager Mr. Gilbert Ampofo urged farmers, institutions, and individuals to collect seedlings from designated distribution points and contribute to protecting the environment.

He noted that the forestry sector plays a key role in Ghana’s economy through job creation, foreign exchange earnings, and support for local communities.

Mr. Ampofo also stressed the environmental importance of trees, warning against indiscriminate tree felling and encouraging the public to seek approval from the Forestry Commission before cutting trees.

He added that the Commission is focusing not only on planting trees but also on maintaining and protecting them from wildfires and other threats.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, BNI, teachers, farmers, traditional authorities, and the District Chief Executive’s representative, all demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation.
