Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Lawmaker for the Wa West constituency in Upper West Region on 6th April, 2026, joined the people of Vieri and its surrounding communities to celebrate the Easter picnic day at the Vieri Primary School premises.
Picnic is an informal outdoor meal, usually eaten in a park, by a lake, or in any scenic spot. It is a chance to relax, enjoy good food, and spend quality time with friends and family.
Hon. Lanchene Toobu in his speech, called for unity and peace as the major tools for development.
He reiterated his persistent call for issues devoid of tribal conflicts, and cautioned against the generalization of individual conduct as representative of an entire tribe.
This occasion drew many important dignitaries, including DCOP Francis Yirbaree, the Regional Police Commander.
The Chief Executive for our beloved Wa West, Hon. Richard Wulo, the Wa West NDC Chairman, and a cross-section of party members were in attendance.
Opinion leaders and traditional authorities were also present.
The District Health Insurance Manager, Mr. Elyasu Mumuni Kansanaa, led his team to renew and replace cards that are no longer active.
The District Health Director, Madam Cecilia Kakariba, led a team to conduct medical screenings and provide various diagnostic services.
A football match was played between all-time champions Ga and the Vieri community, ending 2-1 in favour of Ga. Various dancing groups graced the ceremony, with Bina, Bawaah, and Jazz making it a colourful event.
Both teams were presented with a set of jerseys, a football each, and GH¢2,000.00 for participating.
In the true spirit of a picnic, Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu generously provided an impressive spread of food, including a variety of local dishes, accompanied by all kinds of assorted drinks to keep everyone refreshed and in high spirits.
It was a serve-yourself arrangement, allowing everyone to freely help themselves and enjoy the feast in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. The dancing continued till daybreak.
