In a significant boost to digital inclusion and rural connectivity, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wa West District, Richard Wulo, has announced the successful receipt of materials for the rollout of a Rural Telephony Project across five communities in the District.

The beneficiary communities for this phase of the project include;Dornye,Vieri

Dabo-Siira,Kukpali and Bultuo.

According to Hon. Wulo, the arrival of these materials marks a major step toward bridging the communication gap in underserved and hard-to-reach communities, where access to reliable mobile network services has long been a challenge.

The Rural Telephony Project, a flagship initiative aimed at expanding telecommunications infrastructure to deprived areas, is expected to significantly improve voice and data connectivity, enhance emergency communication, and open up new opportunities for economic and social development.

Residents in these communities will soon experience improved access to mobile networks, enabling better communication, access to digital services, mobile money transactions, and enhanced access to information and public services.

Hon. Wulo emphasized that improved connectivity will also support local businesses, facilitate teaching and learning, and strengthen security through easier reporting and coordination.

He further disclosed that this is only the first phase of the intervention, adding that more communities within the district will benefit under the second phase of the project.

“This initiative is a major milestone in our efforts to ensure that no community in Wa West is left behind in terms of access to communication and digital opportunities. The second phase will extend these benefits to more communities across the district,” Hon. Wulo stated.

The DCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to working closely with stakeholders and implementing agencies to ensure the timely installation and operationalization of the telephony infrastructure.

This development reflects the broader national agenda of promoting digital transformation and inclusive development, ensuring that even the most remote parts of Ghana are connected to the rest of the world.
