The Bole Traditional Council has held an emergency meeting on Monday 13th October 2025 at Mom and Dad Lodge in the Bole Municipality of the Savannah Region.
Delivering a welcome speech by Mr. Mohammed Abdulai, the Registrar of the Bole Traditional Council on behalf of Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I), noted that he wish to address a matter that weighs heavily on our collective conscience and thus, the unfortunate conflict between Gonjas and the Lobis.
Bolewura added that the incident has caused pain, fear, and destruction that we must all condemn in the strongest terms. As traditional leaders, we are custodians of peace not only among our own people but also with our neighbors.
The Gonja people are known for peace, tolerance and respect for our neighbors, but one thing Gonjas don’t tolerate is the claim for even an inch of our land.
“I, therefore call on all to lay down their arms and allow the spirit of dialogue, tolerance, and understanding to prevail and so violence has never been the solution to any disagreement; it only deepens wounds and divides families that were once united”.
The Bolewura, stressed that he want to assure the august house that, the Government has taken the matter seriously by setting up a committee to work closely with our father the Yagbonwura to investigate the cause of the conflict and to recommend lasting solutions to prevent such incidents in the future.
Again the Bole Traditional Council is committed to working hand in hand with government authorities, security agencies to ensure that calm is restored and that permanent peace is achieved.
The Paramount Chief mentioned that their major challenges as a traditional council has been the lack of a permanent and befitting office space. For the past years since the inauguration of the council, it has been operated under inadequate conditions that do not reflect our dignity and status.
So It’s is time to change that, we need a well-equipped, modern office complex that will serve as the administrative and ceremonial center of this traditional council. Such a facility will provide space for meetings proper records keeping and smooth coordination of traditional affairs.
Another challenge that continues to hinder the work of the Registrar of the Council is mobility, and the Registrar face serious challenge in performing official duties, attending meetings outside the traditional area and responding to emergencies due to lack of reliable transportation.
He added again that, the challenges before them are many from education, chieftaincy disputes, youth unemployment, inadequate health facilities, internal road network and land boundary issues. Yet, none of these is beyond our collective wisdom and determination. If we speak with one voice, if we put aside our differences, and if we uphold the values of respect and brotherhood, nothing will be impossible for us.
Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) thereforeade a personate appeal to the President, John Dramana Mahama, the Savannah Regional Minister, Member of Parliament for Bole Bamboi constituency, the District Chief Executive for Bole Bamboi District, the District Chief Executive for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, all the government appointees from this traditional area and all developmental partners as stakeholders for development to add the above- mentioned challenges as part of the developmental agenda for the Bole -Bamboi Constituency and Sawla-Tuna Kalba District.
Chiefs, I wish to assure you all that under my leadership as Bolewura, we shall continue to engage government and development partners to bring the needed development to the traditional area, and Chiefs are agents of development and it is our collective responsibility to partner with the government and development agencies so that our people have a share of the national cake.
This is the time for the development of Bole Traditional Area, let us utilize all the opportunities before us and no stone shall be left unturned until we get the needed development for our people especially the youth who are the working force of our population, and as said by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama during this year’s UN general meeting “if not now, then when”
“Let us do so in the spirit of service, wisdom, and humility, so let us find solutions that will bring lasting peace, progress, and development to our people”.
