A farmer at Taletuma in the Sawla -Tuna-Kalba District, Tuontey John Wereh was reported butchered by Fulani herdsmen on June 4, 2025, at the farm of the victim following a slipup between them.
Narrating the incident to Yagbon News,the Assemblyman of the Bobalanyuro Electoral Area ,Mr Basala Dari Moses, said the young farmer grows maize on that piece of land every year, which this year is not an exception.
According to him,the farmer went to his farm on Wednesday only to see Fulani herdsmen from Domangbur in the named electoral area who took their cattle to graze on the man’s farm .
The young farmer in an attempt to stop the act by telling them to control the cattle, resulted to he being butchered by the Fulani herdsmen.
The young man was lucky to have been rescued by some women who heard the exchange of words and advanced to the place to witness the crime scene,he told Yagbon news.
According to the Assemblyman,he had lodged a complaint with the police but no arrest has been made yet.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sawla -Tuna-Kalba constituency in the Savannah Region, Hon.Andrew Dari Chiwitey has recently called for lasting solutions to the nomadic herdsmen menace in his constituency.
According to the lawmaker, the situation is worrying given that it leads to deadly clashes and destruction of farms ploughed by farmers.
