The Former President John Dramani Mahama on Sunday 25th February 2024 paid a courtesy call on Yagbonwura Bii Kunuto Jewu Soale at his Palace in the Savannah regional capital Damongo.

In a welcome address read by Garba Mandariwura Gilbert Iddi on behalf of the Yagbonwura mentioned that, for the first time in the history of elections in this country we have the two main contenders coming from the north and this is an opportunity for us to prove to the country and the rest of the world that we are peace loving people.

The King also said that the story should never be told that under the two contenders, there was any form of conflict reported any where in the country and indeed ladies and gentlemen this is an opportunity for all of us and all the contenders to demonstrate and contribute to the achievements of peace, before, during and after December 7th 2024 elections.

Yagbonwura Bii Kunuto again added that all stakeholders must do their part to protect the peace of this country that we all love, and again we would like to sound a word of caution to the referee that is the electoral commission to remain neutral and work with both sides to ensure there is fairness in the elections.

The king also commended the former president for bringing up the 24 hour economy policy which if successful may contribute in addressing the problems of underdevelopment, poverty and unemployment he stated.

The Former President John Dramani Mahama speaking at the Jakpa Palace noted that before they left office they took a loan agreement to parliament to create a water supply project for Damongo, and the Npp opposed it and said that they will be coming into government and when they win power they will do the water project.

He reassured the Yagbonwura and the people of Damongo that the water project would be his priority and that they would no longer thirst for water once he was elected president.

John Mahama said for eight good years now the people of Damongo are tasty and don’t have water to drink, if you go to the hospital now the majority of cases are typhoid cases and that is because of polluted water if not for Garlus who brought a water tanker car and it’s supplying a clean drinking water most of us would have been in hospitals today he said.
