Member of Parliament for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency of the Savannah Region, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey, has secured a fully funded scholarship package for a first-year student from his constituency pursuing Biomedical Engineering at the Academic City University College in Accra.

The recipient of the scholarship, master Dari Felix, hails from Poru in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.

He completed Nandom Senior High School and excelled with 7As and in last year’s West Africa Senior Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Touched by the exceptional performance of master Felix, the MP for the area, journeyed and secured a scholarship package of US$40,000.00 which envelopes the entire tuition duration of the student, accomadation, transportation, feeding and stipends among others.

In a Facebook post, the MP said that,  despite the marvelous performance, Felix’s chances of progressing to a tertiary institution to pursue his dream course were very slim.

According to him, he got to know about the plight of the young but brilliant student when the Assemblyman for the area drew his attention on the need to help remedy the situation.

“Touched by the plight of Felix, and my resolve to ensure expanded access to tertiary education to my constituents, I made contacts with various universites both nationally and internationally to provide scholarship to Felix”, the MP indicated.

He said Academic City University College, based in Accra fortunately offered a full scholarship for him to read a BSC in Biomedical Engineering.

The securing of the scholarship package therefore means that Felix will not be required to make any form of payment to the university in any way for his four-year stay in the university.

He has since been matriculated into the class of 2022 to to begin his academic journey, the MP added.

The MP therefore, used the opportunity to to thank the management and staff of Academic City University College for making such a timely intervention in the life of such a promising young man,Dari Felix.

He equally thanked the Assemblyman for the area, thus, Poru Electoral Area, Hon. Joseph Ee-kpenibe Jannyaa, for bringing to his notice about the plight of master Felix.

Master Dari Felix, speaking to Yagbon News, expressed gratitude to the MP. He prayed for God’s guidance and protection for him and also assured him that he wouldn’t let the MP down.

“All I want to say is that may the Almighty God continue to bless and guide him in all his endeavours,”he told Yagbon News in an interview.
