
The annual support for persons living with disabilities has being initiated at the forecourt of the Sawla community center by Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district assembly on the 24th of December 2025.
The annual support durbar which is always given to them was honoured by the D.C.E ,honorable Saaka Sikina,staff of the district assembly ,chiefs and elders from the Sawlawura’s palace,various Assembly men ,Executive and members of the Association of People living with disabilities(PWDs)
The D.C.E addressing the durbar established that the initiative reflects the commitment of the president of Ghana and the district in ensuring that persons living with disabilities are not left out in our national and local development agenda.
This initiative has to celebrate, empower,dignify and inclusive for our brothers and sisters living with disabilities and move them from the street ,he said.
He caution that the items were strictly not for sale therefore anyone found guilty with be exempted from this benefits encouraging that development is meaningful when it is inclusive.

Speaking at the durbar ,the president of the PWDs empress his gratitude and stressed that this are not jus items but rather a symbol of hope ,independence and economic inclusion. He said it represents their collective efforts to move from dependence to self sufficiency.
He highlighted on the challenges that hinder the objectives of the disabilities
Some of such challenges are delay of the disbursement of the fund,non-involvement of PWDs in procurements process and misuse of the fund by non-PWDs beneficary
The district assembly supported these persons with the items below:
Ten deep freezers to support cold-store and beverage business.
Five sewing machines to promote skilling dressmaking and tailoring
Two motor tricycle to enhance mobility and commercial activities.
Two motor king to support transport and delivery services
Two laptops to encourage digital skills and office based work.
In addition to these items,a total of 91 persons receive cash support amounting to one hundred and seventy -four thousand Ghana cedis(174,000,00) to help them start or expand their own business.
