The Sawla- Tuna-Kalba District Assembly has presented 200 dual desks to the District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for onward distribution to basic schools in the District.
At a short ceremony to present the desks on April 14, 2021, Hon. Lawal Tamimu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) said the donation will bridge the district’s furniture deficit which the Assembly was determined to resolve.
That was an integral of the Assembly’s vision to improve the quality of education, teaching and learning to ensure that all pupils sat on decent and comfortable seats.
He further advised the various school authorities to contribute their quota to raise the academic standard in the district by paying critical attention to nurturing the talents of the school children.
Receiving the desks, Madam Abiba Abubakari Soale, the District Director of Education said the presentation had come at an opportune time when schools were faced with many challenges including inadequate furniture that was hampering academic work.
However, she was glad the presentation will significantly provide a conducive learning environment and aid good teaching and learning in beneficiary schools.
She thanked the Assembly for the tremendous contribution to improving quality education in the District and appealed to the Assembly to urgently speed up its promise of bridging the furniture deficit.
The District Director of Education pledged to strictly monitor schools to ensure that the furniture were well maintained to serve their intended purpose.
