The District Chief Executive for Sawla- Tuna- Kalba District in the Savannah Region, Hon.Tamimu is said to have verbally attacked the District Police Commander, ASP Degraft Armah Adjei after he was accused of smuggling properties belonging to the District Assembly to Bole.

ASP Degraft Adjei speaking to Abdul Fatawu on Yagbon Radio morning show “Tea cup”on December 14, 2020, on the issue confirmed it said he suffered the attack by the DCE together with the Bureau of National Intelligence District officer on Saturday, November 12, 2020.

According to him an eyewitness reported that a Kia truck with registration number GS 3781- 13 was loaded with properties such as beds, mattresses, furniture, tables, street lights, TV sets and some sound systems with the District Assembly labelings at the DCE’s residence.

ASP De-Graft Adjei disclosed that he together with a BNI officer, moved to the residence of Mr. Tamimu Lawal where the items were purportedly being conveyed into the Kia truck.

He stated that the DCE accused the police department of being affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and therefore had no right to stop him from packing the items.

He added that DCE described him as a corrupt officer and being “foolish” and threatened to transfer him and the BNI officer out of the district for interference in his activities.

According to ASP Adjei Covid-19 PPEs which were supposed to be distributed to residents and departments in the district were also part of the retrieved items.

He stated that all the seized items were off-loaded and sent back to the DCE’s residence.

Meanwhile all attempts to get Hon. Tamimu Lawal through telephone for his side of the story has proved futile as his phone line is switched off.
