Addressing the participants, the national coordinator of GWJN, Mr Justice Leeh Adoboe said Constant honing of our skills, as media people, is critical to make journalists remain suitable for the purpose all the time.

He added that knowledge and new dimensions we acquire from these opportunities, and how we apply them to our work are the wisdom that brings us success.

He said GWJN recognized the partnership with WVG as a very critical one which shall open new chapters in their role as WASH journalists and advocates for universal access to improved sanitation, which he said contributes their quota to the achievements of the targets under SDGs-6.

When girls and women have access to safe and affordable sanitary materials to manage their menstruation, they decrease their risk of infections, Mr Justice stated

The coordinator for M-CODe, Mr Francis Ameyibor admonished journalists to move from just reporting to WASH advocacy.

He added that journalism has taken a new phase that includes reporting, follow up and feedback.

He underscores the need for journalists to work together with WASH issues in holding duty bearers accountable.

He reiterates the need to achieve the SDG-6 adding that we have six years to achieve this goal and that it can be done if we advocate for equal access to portable drinking water.

Mr Yaw Atta Arhin Wash technical officer at world vision said nothing can be important in a child wellbeing than sustainable WASH service.

He said the world vision prioritizes the delivery of sustainable WASH service.

He said in developing countries that world vision reaches a new person with clean water in every ten seconds because they believe that is foundational in all basic needs.

He said it is fundamental for sustainable development adding the EU said no strategies for poverty reduction can ignore suitable wash service.

He however said the media is a powerful tool for positive change and that he believes the media can support behavioral change in child protection programs.
