The Deputy General Secretary of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress Lawyer Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, led by the Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi Constituency in the Savannah Region, Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, on Wednesday 22nd July 2020, toured some centers of the ongoing voter’s registration exercise in the Bole- Bamboi constituency.
The Deputy National Secretary of the NDC was in the Savannah Region to monitor the ongoing registeration exercise of the Electoral commission in the Region.
The Deputy scribe after touring the Chanchire and Mankumah centers commended the constituents for involving themselves in the exercise.
Though there were some challenges at the Chanchire Center with some of the Kits not functioning properly, and as at 1:30pm they were able to register 36 applicants and 62 at Mankuma.
She also proceeded to Lampoga, Seripe and Sakpa registration centers and indicated that, the voter’s registration gives the opportunity to the constituents to register and be eligible to vote and hence called on all potential registrants to participate in the exercise.
Barbara Sewaa who was the former Deputy Minister of Land and Natural Resources under the erstwhile John Mahama highlighted the importance of the voter’s ID as she said;
“Voters ID is not needed for elections alone, it is one of the means of establishing your identity. When one wants to contest elections, the laws state it clear that you must have an ID card. In fact, there are several other things that requires the usage of the voters ID”
She commended the people of Bole-Bamboi for conducting the registration peacefully and urged them to continue deepening the integrity of democracy in Ghana.
She praised the MP for the massive developmental projects that have sprung up in the constituency through his Common Fund.
Chanchire primary school which was ripped off by rainstorm was handed over to a contractor for renovation by the Member of Parliament.
