The partnership was cemented at a ceremony held at the University of Ghana on Friday, 11th August 2023.
The signing ceremony saw the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, express her gratitude and excitement regarding the partnership.
She underlined that the funds received, led by NASCO, will be strategically employed to bolster various development projects on the University’s campus, enhancing the overall educational experience for students.
Professor Amfo warmly welcomed the collaboration with NASCO and commended the company’s proactive stance in supporting educational institutions.
She urged NASCO to continue its engagement in the University’s development efforts, emphasizing the pivotal role such collaborations play in advancing education and contributing to societal progress.
The Executive Director of NASCO Feeding Minds, Banasco Seidu Nuhu shared insights into NASCO’s decade-long dedication to investing in people and projects that drive literacy and education forward in his address.
He detailed their obligation per the partnership to raise $20 million to support the University of Ghana’s ambitious ICT initiatives.
This substantial fund will be used to support the University’s mission to construct a state-of-the-art ICT facility.
Moreover, it will facilitate the provision of a laptop for each student, nurturing a technologically advanced learning environment and enhancing students’ access to valuable educational resources.
“For us, I think it’s a realization of our potential; we did a similar partnership last year with the Department of Political Science and established a computer centre and an E-learning centre.
We are excited and very hopeful that after 2 years, the results of the relationship will encourage us to do more. We will work hard to ensure that this dream becomes a reality”, he added.
The partnership between NASCO and the University of Ghana is more than just a financial agreement – it is a symbolic union of shared values, visions, and aspirations.
This collaborative endeavor holds the potential to impact education, technology, and society as a whole.
