As part of efforts to mitigate the impact of the Gbiniyiri conflict, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the Savannah Region has donated food items to Gbampe and Dendneyiri communities in the Bole District.

The relief items included 60 bags of rice, 15 cartons of oil, cups, buckets and bowls.

The program, spearheaded by the Savannah Regional NADMO, covers both Bole and Sawla Districts.

Addressing the community members, the Regional NADMO Director, Mr. Mahama Zakaria, described the conflict as unfortunate and preventable.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to finding a lasting solution while acknowledging the immediate challenges faced by the affected communities.

Mr. Zakaria noted that the conflict had disrupted agricultural activities in the area, hence the need to provide food supplies.

He admitted the items may not be sufficient but urged the communities to see the donation as a goodwill gesture from the government.

He further stressed that the gesture covers both Birifor and Gonja communities, adding that the President and government are fully aware of the situation, which is why the intervention was made.

On his part, the NDC STK Constituency Vice Chairman revealed that the NDC government is also considering a package to support the next farming season for affected communities.

He called on residents to exercise restraint as government continues to work tirelessly to restore peace.

The NADMO officer for Gbampe, Mr. Razak Hudu, speaking on behalf of his community, expressed gratitude to the government and the President.

He urged all parties to embrace peace, stressing that “the tongue and the teeth may fight, but they still work together.”

He further expressed hope that more support will be extended to his community in the future.

The NADMO team was led by the Bole District NADMO Coordinator, Mr. Gbolinyari Gbolo Timothy.
