The Savannah Regional Women’s Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Safia Mohammed, has urged supporters of the party to stay united and focus in a bid to help the party break the eight-year power swing jinx.

According to her, the NPP is the Party with the track-record of delivery, the Party of social interventions, and therefore, the only Party of choice to the Ghanaian people.

As a result, she urged members of the Party to amplify the Party’s success stories, and work assiduously to actualize the “breaking the 8” project in order to protect the party’s legacies and consolidate its gains over the years.

Whilst the Party is working hard to break the 8, Hajia Safia specially charged the people of Savannah Region with an additional responsibility of breaking the 8, after observing that the Party’s highest achievement in the Region was in the 2020 general elections where it won as many as 3 Parliamentary seats.

She made the remarks when the women wing in the Region embarked on a tour captioned; “Touching The Base With Women Ahead Of 2024”.

The is among a series of events and engagements to be organized to touch base with the women as part of efforts towards re-energizing, the women’s wing of the party for the task ahead.

The Savannah Regional Women’s Organizer, Hajia Safia Mohammed in an interview with Yagbon radio on February 12, 2022, said that the tour seeks to engage with key women groups, opinion leaders, traditional authorities, and other key stakeholders within the party in the Region.

According to her, the tour will allow the team to listen and address the concerns of party grassroots especially women, and also engage them on ways by which they can support the party to deliver on its second-term mandate to enhance the party’s chances of breaking the 8-year governance cycle.

She believes that touching base with the women in the region will further enrich the love of the grassroots for the party and hence bring her office closer to them.

“Women played a pivotal role in helping the Region to attain 3 seats and hence there is the need to draw closer to them at all times”, she said.

On their upcoming constituency and Regional elections, the Regional Women’s Organised called on aspirants to remain united no matter the outcome of the elections as she argued that internal elections should not break them as a party.

Also speaking on the same platform was Madam Lawuratu Musa Saaka, Member of the NPP National Communications Team, advised Ghanains to accept the proposed E-levy for the government to generate enough resources for the development of the country.

She explained that, the E-levy has become necessary due to the havoc caused by the out break of covid-19 on the economy which requires government to generate more revenue internally.

According to her Ghanains should ignore the criticisms of levy by the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), saying the is good at criticising good initiatives such as the National Health Insurance Scheme and the Free Senior High School policy.

“The E-levy would definitely be of help to every Ghanaian and so we need to come together and support such a laudable initiative of the government for national growth and development”, Madam Lawuratu said.
