The Assembly Member of Kawurbi Electoral Area in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Mr. Abdulai Mohammed has donated to forty (40) widows in his area ahead of this year’s Eid-Ul- Fitr celebration.
This is the third time the Assemblyman has made such donation in three years.
The entire package contains one mini bag of rice, one canned tomatoe, one canned fish and a 1.5L of cooking oil.
The women thanked him for the kind gesture and expressed joy as they will be part of the celebration.
They wished him well in his political career and prayed for the donors to continue to help the needy in the society.
Addressing the media Mr. Abdulai Mohammed said this has become necessary amidst the Ramadan.
He said it is month of blessing and we need do a lot of aIms giving.
He said in his reign as an Assembly Member for the area , he has trained some women in soap making and make ups for which some are benefiting from the training as capacity building for his area.
On the side of men, he said two young men are under entrepreneurship training in Bole on glass work artisans.
He said he has his people at heart and will do all within in his power to support them.
He However lamented about the current policy on Assembly Members that prevent them from being paid.
He said government should amend the act to pay allowances to Assembly Members to foster development.
