Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey, Member of Parliament for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency, on April 1, 2024, joined the ‘Kanyirnomona’ Women Association of Soditey-kura to launch their association.

He applauded them for such a great initiative.

He also praised women, especially in rural communities, for their role in their wards’ education.

He gave a personal life story of how his mother contributed enormously to his education and personal development.

He therefore found the theme chosen, that is women in business and the role of women in development as very apt.

This is because women have proven to be very influential in community development.

He cited the Konkorompe community, where women took a community initiative to build a CHP compound.

As the Member of Parliament, he found it prudent to contribute to the initiative hence he supported them with building materials and an amount of ten thousand Ghana cedis (GH10,000.00) to ensure the realisation of this beautiful initiative.

He lauded the ‘Kanyirnomona’ women association of Soditey-kura for the initiative to build a warehouse for the community.

On his part, he pledged fifty bags of cement for a start.

He also gave them twenty (20) plastic chairs and a cash amount of five hundred Ghana cedis (GH500.00) to support the activities of the association.

He also used the opportunity to donate a football and a set of jersey to the youth in the community for their sporting activities.

Hon. Chiwitey also admonished the NDC constituency women organiser and her deputy to ensure that members of this association are given the necessary attention to enable them also benefit from social safety nets initiatives like MASLOC and LEAP.

He lamented the bad nature of the road which has not been reshaped for a very long time now and gave them hope that come 2025 when JDM comes to power, the current nature of the road will be a thing of the past.
