
Damongo -The Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture (NCC) has paid an official working visit to the Savannah Region Centre for National Culture as part of efforts to strengthen institutional engagement and promote cultural development in the region.
In line with traditional protocol, the Executive Director, upon arrival, paid a courtesy call on the Damongo wura, Overlord of the Damongo Traditional Council, to acknowledge his authority and reaffirm the Commission’s respect for traditional leadership. The visit was marked by a grand traditional reception, during which the Executive Director was presented with traditional gifts, including a Smock, one hundred tubers of Yam, and a Billy Goat.
During the palace engagement, the Damongo wura commended the leadership of the Regional Director of the Centre for National Culture, Savannah Region, and appealed for consideration of an extension of his tenure. The Executive Director assured the traditional authority that the request would be communicated to the appropriate authorities for consideration.
The Executive Director was accompanied by the Head of Finance and Accounting of the National Commission on Culture, the Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Director of the Centre for National Culture, Savannah Region, and other members of staff.
As part of the visit, the Executive Director also paid a courtesy call on the Savannah Regional Minister, where discussions focused on strengthening collaboration and advancing a shared vision for cultural development in the region.
The visit further included a staff engagement at the Centre for National Culture, Savannah Region. Addressing staff, the Executive Director outlined key priorities and expectations, shared the Commission’s strategic direction, and listened to concerns raised by staff. The Regional Director highlighted some of the challenges confronting the Centre during the interaction.
The Executive Director commended staff for their dedication and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening regional centres and promoting Ghana’s rich and diverse cultural heritage
