Madam Seidu Fati, Director of Management Division of the Public Services Commission has called on children to cultivate a habit of reading to help them acquire the requisite knowledge that would help them excel.
She said reading was essential in broadening one’s scope of knowledge and building the needed capacity to achieve greater heights.
Madam Fati who was speaking at the commissioning of a community library at Mandari on September 24,2021,said there was joy in reading.
Speaking at the event as the chairperson,she said it was easier for one to make meaningful progress in life if he or she could read, calling for more reading materials to be made available to the community library.
She reminded the pupils in the community that education is very crucial for them to achieve a desired future; “I wish to remind our young people that, looking at what ordinary people have achieved in life, where you are born, where you come from, or even your family circumstances should not be a barrier to your success in life. Education is, however, the key to achieve a desired future. It does not matter how you start out in life. What you do with the opportunities that come your way will determine how you end up in life.”
Mr Aaron Kuwornu, Director of the Ghana Library Authority for Northern, North-East and Savannah regions advised the pupils to take their academic work seriously and make good use of library to build their capacities in order to excel in their examinations.
According to him the Mandari community library is the 105th in the country and second to be established in the entire Savannah region.
He said that the MP was ever ready in assisting the community for the facility to yield the necessary results.
The MP’s representative equally tasked the community to ensure proper maintenance of the facility to prolong its durability.
He also charged pupils in basic schools in the community to cultivate the habit of reading to sharpen their intellectual skills.
Mr Aaron again called on the community to form a committee that will monitor activities in the library and to ensure its sustainability for future generations.
Speaking on behalf of the Member of Parliament for the Bole- Bamboi Constituency Mr Adams Deen reiterated the unwavering commitment of the constituency lawmaker in contributing to quality education delivery in the constituency.
He says part of his efforts to achieve this goal is through the massive support the MP gave to the Mandari community to put a library for pupils to get the opportunities to explore their full potential.
Mandari wura Seidu Awusi who could not hide his ecstasies thanked all individuals for the gesture and contributing their quota in the development and progress of the community by assisting in the building of the project.
He also assured the gathering that the project will be put into good use and properly maintained.
Among the dignitaries who attended the event were the Mandari Circuit supervisor, the Safalnaa of the community, Chairman of the Local Council of Churches for Bole District,the Assembly member, executives of Bole- Bamboi NDC, the Assembly member and Hon. Saaka Dinonah Vasco, a former Assembly member for the area.
