Madam Vivien Ne-ormah Nyoni, the President of the Birifor Youth Association, has emphasised the need for all ethnic groups to live in peace and harmony with other people for the needed development in our communities.
She said it is only when everyone is at peace with each other that the much-needed development being pushed for could be realized.
Madam Vivien made this point during the celebration of the 47th biannual Congress of the association at Tuna on April 30, 2023.
The Congress was held on the theme; Promoting Peace and Unity in Cultural Diversity in Ghana: The role of the Birifor Youth Association.
She observed that no development would be realized in the absence of peace and unity .
“Irrespective of one’s tribal background, as long as they are Ghanaians, he or she is entitled to live at any place of their choice. But in all of these, peaceful coexistence should be pursued by all”, she further stressed.
She entreated people to resort to the appropriate channels and institutions to address all manner of disputes instead of taking the law in their own hands which could breach the peace in the area.
She was optimistic that with the support of leadership and members of the Birifor Youth Association and all other tribes, the area will be developed for the benefit of all.
She, however, emphasised that unity and peaceful coexistence were the only way the people could work together to overcome the economic and social challenges in the area.
Madam Vivien Ne-ormah Nyoni, also said Birifors have a responsibility to protect their cultural heritage for posterity.
“It is time that we captured and documented these time-honoured approaches to knowledge dissemination and made them more widely available,” Madam Vivien said in Tuna.
Speaking as the guest speaker on the theme, Rev. Emmanuel Kweku Danah, encouraged all tribes in the Savannah region and beyond to embrace peace as a pillar of development.
He said without peace and unity communities are drawn back in terms of development.
Mr Danah, therefore, called on each and everyone to to see peace as the only tool that can propel the needed developmental initiatives in our communities.
