Assin-North by- elections: former constituency communication officer calls on all party executives to invade the constituency.

A former National Democratic Congress Constituency Communication Officer of Sawla- Tuna-Kalba and a former TEIN Secretary at UDS, Comrade Kipo Elijah Bakari, has pleaded with all Party executives, MPs, former MPs, and former Appointees to invade the Assin -North constituency ahead of the by-elections in the constituency.

In a message shared on social media, Kipo Elijah indicated that there is an absolute inducement of voters by the ruling government party – NPP, possibly followed by intimidation.

He is therefore calling for the NDC and its supporters to show firmness and determination to win the seat, rather than the benefits of a win in 2024.

He also emphasized the need for a strong organizing team in Assin North, which should include a coordinator for the organizers to ensure the NDC’s victory in the by-elections.

Mr Bakari further noted that the NDC’s success in Assin North is crucial to their journey to the 2024 general elections. In light of these concerns, Bakari is urging all “neutral” Ghanaians and “men of God” to support the NDC’s efforts to win the by-elections.

Even with 137 seats in Parliament, he explained that the current government is facing hardship and a 138-plus independent majority will ensure that its policies and intentions are implemented smoothly.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has fixed Tuesday, June 27, 2023 for the by-election in the Assin North Constituency of the Central Region.

This follows a unanimous decision by the Supreme Court on Wednesday (May 17) declaring as unconstitutional, the election of James Gyakye Quayson as the National Democratic Congress’ Member of Parliament (MP) for that constituency.
