Armed robbers battle cops at Gbongboduori.

The exchange of fire between a gang of armed robbers and the Police has led to the shooting of one of the robbers and recovery of some items from the suspected criminals.

The suspected armed robbers numbering about four allegedly attacked a heavy duty car near Gbongboduori a community in the Sawla- Tuna- Kalba District.

The police gave them a hot chase during which there was an exchange of fire and one of the robbers Yakubu Musah, 20 years was shot on the thigh and eventually arrested and recovered from him his gun and a cartridge but three of the suspects escaped into a nearby bush.

ASP Degraft Armah Agyei, Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, District Police Commmander told Yagbon News that three of the suspected robbers were armed with guns while one was armed with a machete.

He narrated that on May 23, 2020, around 2:00am, a police patrol team from the Sawla District Command which was on patrol duties run into the robbery scene.

“One of the suspected robbers whose name has been given as Yakubu Musah first opened fire on my men and my men also returned fire injuring him in the process which led to his arrest”, ASP Armah said.

ASP Armah said the police has launched an investigation into the matter while Yakubu Musah remains in their custody.
