Yagbon Wura takes further steps to protect the environment.

Yagbon Wura Tuntunba Boresa I, king and overlord of the Gonja kingdom has hence forth banned all evironmental degradation activities in the Savannah Region.

This was declared by the Buipewura Jinapor II on behalf Yagbonwura during a consultative forum organized by the Savannah Regional House Chiefs in Damongo.

These activities includes commercial charcoal burning,commercial wood logging and harvesting, commercial hunting, mining along rivers among others.

Addressing participants at the dialogue Buipewura said it takes commitment to be able to fight this evironmental cancer.

He however called for all hands on on desk to fight this cancer and asked the all paramount chiefs to follow the directive with immediate effect.

The Gonja Traditional Coumcil and the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs formed an evironmental committee to and gave an ultimatum of 27th august 2021 for all burnt charcoal to be convened.

The consultative dialogue which saw the presence of various associations, the secretary of the Gonjaland Youth Association, Mr Mohammed Abdulaih Adams assured the chiefs of their support and however called all zonal executives to follow the directive.

Joseph Dorwii Garyoni said they are very excited with the news and said they have fought this for long and also assured them of their support as they will do their best to fight the cancer.

Speaking on behalf of Brifor Youth Association Madam Vivian Ne- ormah Nyoni, the president of the association  said rosewood is a spiritual tree and was a worried When they were not seeing commitment from from chiefs and leaders but with this assurance they will play their part in safeguarding the environment.

The overlord has desolve the environmental committee and shifted the power back to the eminent as follows ;

Buipewura Jinapor II – Chairman

Mankpanwura Achu-Ade Borenyi I – Member

Kpembi Wura Bambange Ndefeso IV – Member

Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso I – Member

Kong Wura Jinkurige I – Member

Nnaa Dr. Agbaa Jaaga IV Gbampewaa kooro.

Mr Jeremiah Seidu was also appointed as an environmental consultant.
