Kalba wins Savannah football tournament competition.

The Kalba football team has emerged winners of the third edition of the Savannah football tournament which was held at Kalba in the Sawla-Tuna- Kalba District of the Savannah Region.

The ten-days event comprising 32 communities was to unearth talents in the hinterlands.

The 2022 edition hosted at Kalba had a lot to boast of as far as player quality is concerned.

32 communities assembled at Kalba pulled surprising defeats and wins right from the group stages where belittled Dabuoyir beat Bobalanyuro in the group stages, formidable Bebeyiri in the knockout stage and as well beating Wechau Bao in the quarter finals.

The last four (4) teams for this year’s edition included, Dabuoyir, Gurungu, Kakiasi and Kalba the host.

Gurungu thrashed Dabuoyir 3-0 to place 3rd whilst Dabuoyir placed 4th.

Kalba with the host and win dream nailed Kakiasi by a lone goal (1-0) to lift the trophy whilst Kakiasi earned the second spot to their credit .

A set of jerseys, 2 footballs, 30 pieces of champions t-shirts, 30 pieces of gold medals and an amount of Ghc500.00 as the trophy price was presented to the champions.

The runners up (the 2nd) team received a set of jerseys, 2 footballs, 30 pieces of medals and an amount of Ghc350.00, while 3rd placed team also received a set of jerseys, at least 20 pieces of medals, 2 footballs and an amount of Ghc200.00 and the 4th team received a set of jerseys and and 2 footballs to their credit.

The most valuable player of the tournament award went to Jehintey Toaw with an award package of a GHC250.00 worth of a pair of football boots, the top scorer(Sylvester) received a golden boot,  the best goalkeeper of the tournament also received a pair of goalkeeper’s gloves worth GHC250.00and the best coach of the tournament took home a tri-suit.

All teams which made it to the quarterfinals stage were also given a set of jerseys each.

These teams include, Bebeyir, Dakoms city, Wechau Bao and Damiteen. Well behaved team (Bebeyir) and Well Branded team (Yarkoi) were both awarded with one football each.

Sponsors for this year’s edition the tournament includes, have IMBOOST herbal mixture, Dakoms City Limited, African Soccer Agency, Member of Parliament for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey and Chapintey Drugs Store in Sawla.
