A Political Science lecturer with the Political Science Department of the University of Education, Winneba, Dr. Mathew Arah has been awarded as the 2021 recipient of the UEW POSSA outstanding lecturer of the year award in recognition of his work towards strengthening the Department of Political Science of the University.
The award was was organized by Political Science Students Association (POSSA ) of the University which comprised of 5850 students who voted to elect the best lecturer of the year.
The voting too was open to the public and I won the competition in excess of 2000 votes, Mr Arah told Yagbon News in an interview.
According to him the department has 17 lecturers, but only 3 of them were nominated and he beat the other 2 contenders to claim the ultimate award.
He told Yagbon News that he joined the department of the University in January 2021, barely 8 months ago only to win such a remarkable award is welcoming as he attributed hardwork and dedication as elements that won him the award.
Mr Arah added that, this is the first time such an award is organized by the student in the history of the University and expressed his heart felt gratitude to all that voted for him.
He categorically stated that the award is dedicated to the Brifor Youth Association for their marvelous and massive support he received from the Brifor fraternity when he was nominated to contest for the award of Outstanding lecturer of the year, in the Department of Political Science Education, University of Education, Winneba, which he ultimately won.
As part of the award, he was given a citation which reads: Outstanding Lecturer of the year- Dr. Mathew Lobnibe Arah.
Honor indeed must be given to those who deserve it. It is in illumination of the foregoing statement that we acknowledge the fact that in the realm of Education, an honest, industrious, and effective Teacher is worthy of being offered the crown of hard work and re-energize with encouraging words to carry on with good works.
This is in grateful recognition of your selfless service, your diligence and perseverance as a Lecturer and your wonderful abilities as person.
You are indeed a marvelous creature of education and of course a collosal figure in transforming students academic life.
Your pedagogy unquestioned, your ability to bring lifeless topics to life undisputed.
It is in light of these Sterling qualities and capabilities and your monumental contribution to the Department of Political Science as a Lecturer within this short period of time that we award you the Outstanding Lecturer of the year 2021.
