Donayiri community appeals for a befitting classroom block.

Hon. Tuomah Joshua, Assemblyman for Sanyeri Electoral Area in the Sawla-Tuna- Kalba District, has appealed to government to provide Donayiri community with a befitting classroom block for enhanced teaching and learning.

Making the appeal in an interview with Yagbon News, Hon. Joshua said education was the bedrock of development, and being a rural area, one of the fastest ways government could help speed up their developmental agenda was to provide them with the necessary facilities and conditions for effective teaching and learning.

He said that it is a big headache for them to see their children learning under deplorable conditions and that, “The foundation of every child’s life determines their future. Our children are set for doom in the future if we fail to give them the needed support and motivation today”.

“I find it hard to understand why the age-old thatch structure in our only primary school in the community can not be converted to a better classroom block for our kids. The nature of the facility makes it difficult for the kids to pay attention when classes are in progress due to its open nature.

According to him the school has a current enrollment of 188 pupils with only one trained teacher and two other teachers who assist him in teaching the entire school.

We are therefore appealing to all philanthropists and individuals to come to our aid by building a classroom block for us for our children to learn under decent conditions for academic excellence, Hon. Joshua told Yagbon News.

The Assemblyman noted that appeals to authorities at the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Assembly were yet to receive any positive responses.
