The commemoration of International Anti-Corruption day was observed under the theme: “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity”.
The activity was carried out on Monday 8th December 2025 in the 2 Junior High Schools St. Monica JHS and St. Augustine JHS located in Sawla by NORTHCODE GHANA.
Branded Anti Corruption Pens, branded T- Shirts and branded Anti Corruption placards was distributed to two JHS’s in Sawla.
This commemoration is a global call to promote transparency, accountability and integrity in the fight against corruption under the United Nations Convension Against Corruption (UNCAC).
The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), over the years, has marked the day through youth-centered education and community engagements aimed at empowering young people to understand corruption and take action against it.
During the election year, in 2024, the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) reached approximately 50,000 youth across 8 tertiary institutions, 40 Senior High Schools, 12 religious groups, 15 youth groups, and 10 community groups supported by a social media campaign that expanded national reach. Activities focused on electoral integrity, vote buying, and election-related corruption.
Building on this momentum, the 2025 commemoration is said to be expanded to reach youth across 87 districts in all 16 regions of Ghana. This year’s theme: “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity”, aligns directly with the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition’s long-standing focus on engaging and empowering young people as key drivers of change in the anti-corruption movement.
The activities of International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD), this year 2025 aim to sensitize and empower youth on the effects of corruption and development and livelihoods, the importance of whistleblowing as a tool for accountability and their roles as responsible citizens in promoting transparency and integrity. Some other key activities include youth sensitisation sessions in schools and community youth groups across 87 districts, a national social media campaign to amplify youth voices and anti-corruption messages online, the distribution of simplified educational materials, including posters, flyers, pens and outreach tools to support continued awareness and learning.
The event was undertaken by the Local Accountability Network, (LANeT) and the local chapter of Ghana-Anti-Corruption Coalition, GACC, in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region in partnership with NORTHCODE GHANA.
The youth were further encouraged to commit to the 3Rs of anti-corruption action which are *resist* , *reject* , and *report* corruption.
