The Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Yagbon wura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) has celebrated his Damba at Damongo on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 on the theme “Building a Brighter Future for the Savannah Region and Gonjaland through the Bii-Kunuto Educational Fund.
”
A speech read by Yapeiwura Dr. A.B.T Zakariah on behalf of the Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I), noted that it is imperative, he reaffirm a sacred truth that lies at the heart of our kingdom.
“Let me make it abundantly clear that, the land in Gonja belongs to the Gonja traditional authority, as Yagbonwura, I remain the custodian and the allodial title owner to all lands within our jurisdiction, this truth is not to divide us, but to preserve order and respect for tradition”.
The King mentioned that the recent disturbances were regrettable and deeply painful, because we have lived in harmony with our Birifuo brothers for decades, so we must continue to live as peaceful neighbors and however, attempts to undermine our sovereignty and unity cannot be tolerated.
” I therefore call on political leaders, chiefs, youth, civil society, and all stakeholders to join hands in strengthening peace and protecting our cherished Gonja customs, to this end, bye-laws on land use will be enacted and enforced, and those who disregard them will face the appropriate legal actions”.
Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto acknowledge that, Gonjaland seeks peace, not conflict and we invite dialogue, not confrontation, but those who deliberately sow discord must face the law, for peace cannot thrive without justice and let us all, therefore, choose cooperation over conflict, and reconciliation over division, for only through peace can prosperity be secured.
This theme is not just a slogan; it reflects our deepest hopes and collective aspirations as a people and he therefore call on government, teachers, parents, and community leaders to rise to this noble challenge and so let us commit ourselves to investing in our schools, supporting our hardworking teachers, and inspiring our children to dream bigger than their circumstances.
Present at the Jakpa palace was Chiefs and Queen mothers, MP’s, DCE’s, Government appointees and sons and daughters of Gonjaland.
