The Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge (Bole Dubai) in collaboration with the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs and KAGA MULTI CONSULT on Thursday, January 2022 officially launched the Wuripe Savannah Cultural Festival at Damongo.
The cultural festival as initiated seeks to revive the interest of the youth in the culture and tradition of the Savannah Region.
The registrar to the Gonja Traditional Council, Abutu Kapori during an introductory speech noted that a research conducted by KAGA MULTI CONSULT into the culture and tradition of the region revealed that about 90% of the youth between 18 and 40 years have lost interest in the cultural and traditional activities of the Region.
As against the background of the research, KAGA MULTI CONSULT in collaboration with the Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge as the main sponsors has rolled out WURIPE SAVANNAH CULTURAL FESTIVAL (WUSACUF) to revamp the cultural interest in the youth of the Savannah Region as it also seeks to enhance community participation and involvement.
The project which was officially endorsed by the full House of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs on the 29th of December, 2021 and later by the Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Saeed Mauzu Jibril shall be on the theme “Preserving our Cultural Heritage through the Youth” with the motive to bridge the yearning gap of cultural deficiency among the youth of the Region.
The festival among other objectives seek to revive the interest of the youth in our cultures and traditions, promote tourism in the region, to expose the potentials of the Savannah Region to the world and to create awareness on Violent Extremism
and the importance of peaceful co-existence.
Participants during the launch included the representatives of the Savannah Region House of Chiefs, Hon. Saeed Muhazu Jibril, the Savannah Regional Minister as the special Guest of Honor,
the principal Sponsor of the event, Wuripe & Sons Royal Lodge (Bole Dubai),
the General Manager of NTV – Ghana, Tamale and reps from Ghana Tourism Authority, Center for National Arts and Culture, Mole National Park, Zaina Lodge,
Mole Motel among the media.
