The Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has honoured the Honourable Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency in the Savannah Region for what the Directorate described as his exceptional support and interest for the enhancement of quality education in the District since 2017 to date.
The appreciation of the MP, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey was done through a citation.
To the directorate Hon. Chiwitey has consistently demonstrated unparalleled support and advocacy for education, embodying the spirit of service and leadership.
The citation partly reads, ‘Over the years you have been a great partner in quality education delivery, supporting the Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates annually with materials for their final examination, furniture supply, ICT labs in some schools, support to tertiary students, educational infrastructure improvement and sponsoring the final mock preparations of BECE candidates.
Besides, your unwavering support, stalling contribution to the education directorate in diverse ways has left indelible footprints across all the achievements of the Directorate’.
In his acceptance speech through the Constituency Vice Chairman, the MP reiterated his unwavering commitment to providing the utmost support for the educational sector.
He pledged to continue supplying essential materials for B.E.C.E candidates, ensuring the provision of basic infrastructure for schools using the district’s common fund, and furnishing basic schools with necessary furniture.
He emphasized that education serves as the cornerstone for youth development and the foundation for a brighter future.
Hon. Chiwitey Dari reaffirmed his promise to leverage his position and collaborate with educational experts to guarantee the provision of the highest quality education for the youth.
He expressed profound gratitude for the recognition bestowed upon him and emphasized his dedication to enhancing educational opportunities in the district.
This citation and acceptance speech exemplify the MP’s unwavering commitment to advancing education in the Sawla Tuna Kalba District, the constituency vice chairman stated.
“His dedication and determination to provide the best educational resources and opportunities for the youth are commendable and serve as a testament to his outstanding leadership”, he noted.
In the same vein ,the District Directorate of Education also honoured Mr. Seidu Nuhu Banasco, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nasco Feeding Minds , a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) for his sterling contributions towards educational growth in the District.
The NGO works to promote the growth and development of education through ICT infrastructural development across the District.
“Your Foundation has been a bedrock of information and communication technology penetration in the District without which the educational needs of the learners in terms of ICT would have been non- existent ,” a citation presented by the Directorate in honour of Mr. Seidu Nuhu Banasco stated.
Highlighting on some records of the Foundation, the Directorate said the NGO outstanding leadership of the CEO led to the establishment of the Reffect Africa project multi purpose plant at Tuna Senior High Technical which stand to provide a multi- phase benefit to the school and the District at large.
“Furthermore the Directorate in honoring you with this citation state unequivocally, that this your ingenuity and unparallel love for education and youth development that has helped the Directorate for the past three years to always represent the Savannah Region for the annual presidential awards ,” parts of the citation read.
On his part, Mr. Seidu Nuhu Banasco also expressed gratitude to the Directorate for recognizing the works of the NGO.
Mr. Banasco said education remained the surest legacy the government and parents could bequeath to the younger generation, and appealed to wealthy individuals and philanthropic organisations to identify and support brilliant but needy students and pupils in the District.
Many people within the District and beyond, have commended the NGO for its continuous support towards motivating and sustaining the interest of pupils and students in the area in schools through the building of ICT labs across the District.
