Committee set up to maintain Bole ancient Mosque.

The committee in charge of ensuring that the Bole ancient Mosque is maintained has said all efforts are put in place to keep the structure in its original state.

Mr Dawda Nuhu Chokura said that the old Mosque deserves all the protection and maintenance.

He stated the mosque was the first to be built by the ancient Gonja royals for the Islamic community in Bole in the sixteenth centuries under the ancient Malian architecture which has been passed on to them for that matter has become a responsibility for them to protect the religious facility.

On 17th September 2023, the steps pillar of the Bole ancient Mosque got broken and fell inside as a result of the heavy down poor.

Some social media however reported the situation as a total collapse of the Mosque.

Speaking to Yagbon Radio, the organiser of the committee Mr Deen Jabagtey said they really need support including financial, building materials, cargo cars and human resources to put the structure back to it original state.

He use the opportunity to announce to the youth and Bole community to come out tomorrow 26th September to start the first place of restoring the ancient Mosque.

Speaking to Yagbon Radio the Bole chief Imam Alhaji Mohammed Iddris said the Mosque has become a national property and deserve everyone’s support to maintain it.

According to the chief Imam some opinion leaders, political and national security had visited the Mosque upon hearing the information.

He expressed his gratitude to them for the swift response.

He call on the tourism authority among other relevant institutions to support the sustenance of the myosque because is only in Bole, Maluwe,Banda Nkwanta and Larbanga that these Mosque’s can be found in the countries.
